John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) presidential nominee, has stated his optimism about the party's prospects in the 2024 elections, forecasting a "absolute majority" in Parliament and a resounding victory for the NDC. Following his vote at Bole, Mahama was interviewed by the media and said these things.
"Yes, this is one election where almost everyone can see what the outcome is going to be," Mahama said with assurance. Everyone can see where this election is headed, unlike others that have been less clear. And that's due to the Bawumia-Akufo Addo government's appalling performance, our economy's state, the hardships people are going through, the rising unemployment rate, and everything else Ghanaians are dealing with. They want a more seasoned someone who understands how to manage things to take over and save this nation.
The NDC would win more than 150 seats in Parliament, according to Mahama, the president of Ghana from 2012 to 2017. He expressed his conviction that the election's outcome was almost guaranteed when he declared, "Absolute majority, I predict more than 150 members of parliament."
In his remarks, he also remarked that although the electoral process had been peaceful thus far, there was still some uncertainty. In my experience with the EC and elections, the process is still ongoing and is mostly peaceful, though occasionally events do occur. For that reason, I said, "If it goes on like this until the end, we will all be happy, but you never know what our opponents are planning." In order to guarantee a fair and transparent process, Mahama reassured that the NDC had made the required arrangements, placing trained agents and monitors in each of the 40,663 polling places nationwide.
Mahama discussed the significance of a customary prayer ceremony that his family had planned prior to the election in a very personal statement. "In my culture or tradition, it is customary to approach your birth parents and ask them to support you in the face of adversity or a challenging task or assignment. Therefore, it is typical here. Mahama clarified the traditional significance of asking one's ancestors for blessings and support before starting a major journey by saying, "My uncles organized the prayers, and they are Muslims, so they said we must do the prayers at my father's grave."
