The Presidency's Director of Communications, Eugen Arhin, has vehemently denied allegations made by social media troll Kevin Taylor that President Nana Akufo-Addo owns several properties in the UK. Taylor sensationally claimed that the President owns up to 15 properties in the UK, including one at 75 Nottingham Terrace in London, in a recent video that was uploaded on his platform Loud Silence. Arhin advised the public to ignore the accusations, calling them "wholly untrue and unfounded." Arhin emphasized that these allegations are a fabrication intended to damage the President's reputation and stated that they should be handled with the highest disdain.
Having repeatedly criticized the Akufo-Addo government, Taylor said he had paperwork that showed the alleged properties and promised to show them to his audience. Only one home, 75 Nottingham Terrace, which last sold for £3.35 million in 2020, was mentioned by him. Taylor made a connection between the property and President Akufo-Addo without offering any proof. Rather, he showed a cropped property paperwork that contained names associated with the Akufo-Addo family, but he gave it the wrong property name.
The house in question, 32 Nottingham Terrace, not 75, was in fact connected to President Akufo-Addo's younger brother, Edward Akufo-Addo, and his wife, Irene Akufo-Addo, according to a deeper review of the paperwork. The £3.35 million sale of 75 Nottingham Terrace, which Taylor falsely linked to the Akufo-Addo family, has nothing to do with the £350,000 advertised sale price for 32 Nottingham Terrace. In response to the accusations, Arhin stressed that the President does not own any real estate in the United Kingdom, as evidenced by publicly available records from the Land Registry of the United Kingdom. "A straightforward investigation will verify that none of these properties are owned by President Akufo-Addo," Arhin said, adding that the allegations are a part of a larger scheme to deceive the people and damage the President's standing as his term draws to a close.
Taylor cited Stratton Enterprise Holding Limited in his video, which Arhin explicitly denied is owned by President Akufo-Addo. Arhin characterized the charge as baseless and malevolent, saying, "I can categorically tell you that President Akufo-Addo has no knowledge of this company, let alone own it." The director of communications for the Presidency ended by bemoaning the propagation of lies about the President, especially during a period when the country ought to be concentrating on advancement. "It is regrettable that needless diversions are being caused by these unfounded charges. According to Arhin, President Akufo-Addo is a guy who has devoted his life to providing honest and moral service to the people of Ghana.
