Following their nominations for the coveted Artiste of the Year award at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), Ghanaian singer King Promise recently shared a subtle message on social media amid ongoing rumors of tensions with fellow artist Stonebwoy, according to yen.com.gh.
When King Promise's close friend Efia Odo disparaged Stonebwoy in an attempt to increase King Promise's chances of winning the award, the issue became more heated. During the occasion, there were reportedly rumors of a physical incident between the two musicians' groups. Further stoking rumors was the fact that Stonebwoy did not reply to King Promise's congrats after winning Artiste of the Year.
Both musicians denied any enmity or altercation in different interviews. But King Promise's recent remark on a video that blogger Kobby Kyei posted has drawn notice. Rocky Dawuni, a Grammy-nominated veteran musician, met King Promise in the video. King Promise responded by thanking the greats who helped to shape the careers of upcoming artists and sharing their experience.
The CCTV hitmaker commended such icons for avoiding hostility and demonstrating respect in his tweet. "God bless the legends that paved the way and continue to impart knowledge," he wrote at the end, offering a subtle critique. Respect for one another, no hate. Not like some 😊. The previous occurrences led many to view this as a covert jab.
