Today, Friday, November 22, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to open the Tema-Mpakadan Standard Gauge Railway Line and two Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) trains at the Tema Railhead across from the Golden Jubilee Terminal. Seven stations along the Tema-Mpakadan route are connected by the recently finished 97-kilometer standard gauge railway line.
Part of the plan is to gradually replace old narrow gauge rail systems with more contemporary and effective ones. The $4.2 million purchase of the two DMU trains, which are specifically made for the standard gauge railway, is anticipated to improve passenger transportation along the route.
