In response to allegations that the ruling party plans to rig the 2024 elections, Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has retaliated against the NDC. According to Wontumi, the NDC should put more of its efforts into campaigning and persuading the public of its message rather than continuing with its unimpressive campaign.
He pointed out that with 18 days to the elections, John Dramani Mahama has only visited 65 seats, whereas Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has visited nearly every one. As they have always done, the NDC seeks to transfer the blame for their upcoming failure before they are declared the 2024 election losers, knowing that he would lose. "The NDC per my observation in Ashanti region are not campaigning vigorously but instead, are sitting in the comfort of their homes and offices developing strategies to blame the NPP for election rigging," he stated.
