The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has been urged by private attorney and Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team member Martin Kpebu to publicly reveal the identity of the MP who was allegedly paid to stifle media coverage of the National Service Authority (NSA) ghost names scandal. Speaking on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem morning show, Mr. Kpebu emphasized that it would be in the public interest to divulge the MP's name. "The MP's name will be helpful. We must raise awareness of these concerns since society is evolving. They weren't born any different from the rest of us, so there's no reason to protect anyone," he said.
Following Dr. Ayine's disclosure that former NSA Director-General Osei Assibey Antwi reportedly paid a sitting Member of Parliament to stop media coverage of the fraudulent payroll scheme—which involves unlawfully adding phantom names to the payroll—he made this demand. Significant progress had been made in exposing corruption within the scheme, the Attorney General also revealed. "Let us present whatever evidence that may exist. Since crime is crime, nobody should be shielded from it. They shouldn't be immune if there is proof against this MP, he said, adding that even Adu Boahen was named and is still under investigation.
In response to Dr. Ayine's announcement that a video of the National Security raid on the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison will be made public, Mr. Kpebu maintained that the video was insufficient to allay fears. "Bring out your video if you have one, but it won't fix the issue by itself," he said. National Service Authority officials, 2017–2024. From left to right: Kwaku Ohene Djan, Mustache Ussif, Osei Assibey Antwi, Gifty Oware-Mensah, and Henry Nana Boakye He pleaded with the government to form a Commission of Inquiry to look into the issue in depth. Similar to how we carry out legislative investigations, a proper investigation including all interested parties is required. The benefit of such an inquiry is that it will reveal further information and guarantee appropriate responsibility," the attorney continued.
