Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a private attorney, has stated that he is willing to testify before the vetting committee. Shortly after the committee called him to testify before it on a bribery charge against members, claiming that they accept bribes before accepting President Akufo-Addo's candidates, the lawyer took to Facebook. He believed that the Committee's summons was a positive move and that it was one way we could strengthen our democracy. Bernard Ahiafor, the first deputy speaker of parliament and chair of the Appointments Committee, vehemently refuted the charges during discussions on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.He characterized the accusations as baseless and detrimental to the parliamentary screening process's integrity. Mr. Ahiafor gave directions
"The committee members and I, Bernard Ahiafor, the chairman of the committee and the first deputy speaker of parliament, do not seek money from applicants prior to screening them. "For that reason, I will insist that the committee clerk invite Oliver Barker-Vormawor to come before the committee and testify to the accusations." In response, the attorney said that this was the greatest way to advance our democracy and that he was ready to come before the committee as instructed. "This is how a democracy improves," he wrote in a post. Tomorrow, I'm excited to testify before the Appointments Committee. Thank you.
