On behalf of Dela Edem, a party communicator, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Bureau has expressed regret for his offensive remarks on former President John Agyekum Kufour. Sammy Gyamfi, the party's National Communications Officer, posted the apology in a news release on his verified Facebook profile. Edem made it clear that former President John Agyekum Kufuor's present wheelchair confinement is a direct result of his "evil deeds" during his government while speaking on TV ZXY, an NDC affiliate channel.
Since then, Dela Edem has faced a fierce criticism from Ghanaians of all political persuasions for his offensive remarks regarding the esteemed former president. Since then, Edem has apologized and taken back the remarks. According to the statement, which Sammy Gyamfi signed, the NDC lends its voice to Dela Edem's apologies. The party called the remarks offensive and disagreeable, saying that the esteemed statesman should not be subjected to such remarks.


"The NDC adds its voice to the apology that has been rendered and hopes that this retraction and apology brings closure to the matter," the NDC added, further reaffirming its utmost respect for John Agyekum Kufour and vowing that the party will never disrespect him despite belonging to a different political party.
Part of the statement notes, "The NDC as a party accords utmost respect to the elderly in our society and honor to our statesmen." Following the incident, the NDC's National Communication Bureau advised party communicators to refrain from making personal attacks and instead concentrate on spreading John Dramani Mahama's message. "The party strongly advises all communicators to remain focused on propagating the transformational policies of the visionary nation-builder, H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the NDC for a resounding victory on December 7th, 2024," the statement continued.
