A Wontumi Radio/TV broadcaster is being called for imprisonment by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for disseminating misleading information regarding Ghana's general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024. The host, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, reportedly stated that the presidential election would take place on various dates, starting on December 7, 2024. He said that only the top seven candidates on the ballot—including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)—would receive votes on this particular day.
In addition, Nana Asiedu asserted that people would not be permitted to vote for other candidates on days after December 7, 2024, if they did not cast their ballots for Dr. Bawumia. The NDC has denounced Nana Asiedu's remarks, calling them an intentional effort to mislead the public. NDC communication team member Twum Barima said he was shocked and disappointed by the presenter's comments.
During a program with IGP Dampare, I mentioned that he disapproves of false information the most. Twum Barima stated, "The police administration should go and arrest this idiot if he is listening to this or if they have heard it." In order to stop the propagation of misleading information that can interfere with the election process, the NDC is pleading with the authorities to act against Nana Asiedu right away.
