The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s National Communications Director, lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, has mocked the Ghanaian Electoral Commission's (EC) recall exercise. Following a court injunction, the Electoral Commission (EC) started to recollect and declare the results for nine contested constituencies. Nsawam-Adoagyiri (Eastern Region), Dome-Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central (Greater Accra Region), Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, and Obuasi East (Ashanti Region), and Techiman South (Bono East Region) are among the impacted constituencies.
The EC was instructed by the Accra High Court to finish the collation process and announce the victors in compliance with electoral regulations. Additionally, the Inspector-General of Police was directed to guarantee sufficient protection at the collation centers.
The EC's Greater Accra Regional Office hosted the remembrance exercise under strict military and police supervision. Seven of the nine remaining constituencies have been won by the NPP. Dome-Kwabenya and Ablekuma North recollection has been put on hold. Opposition NDC supporters have expressed concern over the development. However, Sammy Gyamfi has reassured party members that they would have the final laugh in a Facebook post, so they shouldn't worry. "Cantata" and "NPP-re-collation" are terms he used to disparage the recollation. "He who laughs last, my comrades, laughs best." Disregard the "cantata" exercise known as "recollation" that the NPP-sponsored EC is conducting. After January 7th, we shall have our last chuckle. "Calm down," he wrote.
