Johnson Asiedu Nketia, often known as General Mosquito, the chairman of the National Democratic Congress, has joined the growing number of people calling for a name change for the National Airport. Some people and organizations have publicly stated in recent years that Kotoka International Airport should be renamed because the original name was unpopular in the nation. Major General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka had no part in the airport's construction, therefore General Mosquito revealed in an interview that he doesn't understand why the airport bears his name. General Mosquito went on to say that Major General Kotoka chose to rename the airport in his honor after toppling Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
