Over 3,000 prisoners at the Nsawam Medium Prison in the Eastern Region have received free medical screenings from Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia's wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, in an incredible act of compassion and humanitarianism. Hajia Samira Bawumia made certain that the prisoners received thorough medical examinations and the prescription drugs they required through her organization, The Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects (SEHP). She also made it possible for them to renew their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards for free. This is not the only instance of Hajia Samira's generosity; she has continuously shown her dedication to helping those in need.
She previously sent Muslim prisoners at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison dozens of bags of rice and other food items so they could celebrate Eid ul-Fitr while they were confined. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency, also paid the prisoners a visit in order to convey a message from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate. He asked the prisoners to cast their ballots for Dr. Bawumia in the December 7 presidential election. Hajia Bawumia has gained great acclaim and affection for her humanitarian efforts to better the lives of prisoners at Nsawam Prison. Vulnerable populations continue to find hope and optimism in her dedication to humanitarian work.
