The rapper posted a story on Instagram on January 8, 2025, with the simple caption, "Back to gari soakings like we never left."

Many people took the message as a response to President John Dramani Mahama's return to office on January 7 after his victory in the general elections of 2024, despite the post's lack of context.

From 2013 until 2016, Sarkodie was outspoken about his displeasure with Mahama's government, frequently using his music as a vehicle for his complaints.

However, others conjectured that the rapper had allied himself with the NPP due to his relative "silence" throughout the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration (2017–2024).
