The decision to terminate the appointments of all public sector employees hired after December 7, 2024, has been challenged by Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B, the national organizer for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). He asserts that the Ghanaian constitution provides no justification for the decision to cancel the appointment. In a government that promised Ghanaians three shifts, he has pledged to use every resource at his disposal to guarantee that these individuals continue to hold their positions. "More than a month has passed since President John Mahama took the Presidential oath to "at all times maintain, protect, and defend the Constitution of Ghana," he wrote in a social media post. So where is this attempt?
Did the President swear to abide by Ghanaian law as well? Has he forgotten that so quickly? According to "good governance practices and principles," the president should be aware that there is no legal basis for removing any appointee. By this notice, I am informing the President that he took an oath to uphold the Constitution and not to misuse it, and I will be going to court to defend these young people. The Constitution should be defended by my attorneys, Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei Esq. and Nana Baffour Awuah Esq.
