Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, the founder and leader of the Power Chapel Worldwide, reportedly declared openly that no one in Ghana, not even senior officials, could scare him. Rev. Kusi Boateng highlighted his fortitude in the sermon, saying, "But from where I'm coming from and where God has brought me to, I'm the last person to be intimidated and to be threatened." No, no, no! I am unable to! He continued by saying, "I can never be intimidated by any authority, personality, president, commander, party, or member of parliament." I am not intimidated.
Given his recent exoneration by the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the context of his comments is still a little unclear. After Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, accused Rev. Kusi Boateng of corruption and procurement breaches pertaining to the National Cathedral project, this investigation was started. Serious accusations were made against Rev. Kusi Boateng and the National Cathedral Board of Trustees in Ablakwa's petition to CHRAJ. He demanded that allegations of conflict of interest, having several identities, and other possible illegal activity be looked into.
One of the most controversial issues in Ghanaian politics has been the National Cathedral, which has come under fire for its funding and administration. According to its conclusions, CHRAJ exonerated Rev. Kusi Boateng of the accusations made against him, claiming that he does not own two passports under separate names. The commission did not, however, hesitate to address the more general concerns related to the National Cathedral project. Because of the trustees' alleged corruption and abuse of power, they recommended a forensic audit and that the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) discontinue the building contract.
