In response to the NPP's election defeat, Diana Asamoah said, "We Will Eat From Both Sides." After the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the general elections in 2024, renowned gospel singer and preacher Diana Asamoah made a speech that sparked responses. In a social media video, the vocal NPP supporter offered a realistic perspective, saying, "We will eat from both sides," indicating that she is prepared to adjust to the new administration.
In past elections, Diana Asamoah, a well-known supporter of the NPP, actively campaigned for the party. She appeared to change her tone after the party's defeat, though, suggesting that her allegiance may not be to a single political party. "Ghanaians have spoken, but the NPP has performed admirably. We will proceed and back the new administration," she continued. Her admirers and political analysts have responded to her remarks in different ways. Some have attacked her for what they see as a lack of unwavering allegiance to the NPP, while others saw her comments as a practical response to the political shift.
Asamoah also exhorted her fellow party members to hold off on taking any moves that would jeopardize national unity and to accept the results in good faith. She also urged the new administration to fulfill its commitments and put Ghanaians' wellbeing first. The gospel singer's response is indicative of the general attitude of introspection and adjustment among some NPP supporters as Ghana moves to new government.
