On Monday, December 9, a gang of young people who are allegedly National Democratic Congress (NDC) sympathizers ransacked the Bono Regional Forestry Commission headquarters. The crew, armed with machetes, took two patrol cars from the regional office, which is also home to the Sunyani Forest Services Division (FSD). Significant disturbance and property loss resulted from the invaders' theft of motorbikes, chainsaw machines, and other equipment that were kept on the property.
John Dramani Mahama, the president-elect, urged NDC supporters to abstain from damaging state property, but this incident nevertheless happened. Mahama called on party members to focus their energies on constructive and positive initiatives to restore the country in his acceptance speech on December 9. However, other places have reported similar vandalism acts. Unknown persons broke into the Forestry Commission depot in Achimota, Accra, and took a number of costly products, including 24 air conditioners, laptops, and other necessary equipment.
Furthermore, the trespassers made an unsuccessful attempt to take the keys of recently purchased cars. Even though the police were called to the scene, they were powerless to stop the young people from causing damage in the Sunyani Forest Services Division.
