Businessman Seidu Agongo and former Ghana Cocoa Board CEO Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni are on trial, but the prosecution has dismissed the accusations against them. The pair was charged with 27 offenses, including knowingly inflicting financial harm to the state, defrauding under false pretenses, public officer misconduct, and violating the Public Procurement Act. The prosecution, led by State Attorney Enam Mensah, informed the High Court in court on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, that the Attorney General had instructed them to withdraw the allegations against the defendants. As a result, they invoked Section 59 Act 30 in their notice of withdrawal. The case began in 2018 when the defendants were accused of incurring a financial loss.
