The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court of Ghana today, Friday, December 27, 2024, contesting the recent announcement and redeclaration of the results of nine contested parliamentary elections. Despite the NDC's protests, the Electoral Commission proceeded with the recount and ongoing compilation of the results of nine constituencies' parliamentary elections for the just concluded general election of 2024 on Friday, December 20, 2024.
The NDC asserted that it had obtained a court injunction that prevented the EC from proceeding with the declaration, which had been duly served on the commission, prior to the re-collation and re-declaration procedure. The party has maintained that the country's electoral laws stipulate that the only way to contest election results once they are announced is to go to court.
