Captain Smart, the anchor of Onua Maakye on Onua TV, has made shocking allegations regarding a long-standing conflict between current President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Captain Smart claims that despite their public unity, the two leaders are inwardly bitter against one another. Captain Smart made the audacious admission that the tense relationship began in 1994, when their party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was going through internal strife. "John Agyekum Kufuor has never been liked by Nana Addo. The entire situation began in 1994. They will pretend to be cool in public, but they are not. They both know deep down that they don't get along," he disclosed.
Even if both commanders present a united front when they are in public, Captain Smart clarified that their innermost thoughts reveal a different picture. He underlined the need to confront this underlying tension, saying it is no longer a secret. "We can no longer conceal these things in this nation," he continued. Additionally, he noted that although many Ghanaians believe Kufuor and Akufo-Addo have a cordial relationship, this is not the case. Despite his hesitancy to speak the truth, Captain Smart claimed that he felt obliged to do so.
The disclosures were made during a conversation regarding John Dramani Mahama's impending inauguration as president. Given that John Agyekum Kufuor has a history of attending every presidential inauguration since the start of the Fourth Republic, Captain Smart boldly claimed that Kufuor will be present. The public is quite interested in these assertions, and many are wondering how this friction could affect the internal dynamics of the NPP and the political environment as a whole. Despite the fact that neither Kufuor nor Akufo-Addo have addressed these claims, Captain Smart's remarks are certain to spark debate in political circles. The disclosures clarified the intricacies of political connections and how they frequently deviate from popular belief.
