After winning the 2024 presidential election, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has officially arrived at the Jubilee House to start the process of transitioning the administration of Ghana. Shortly after the Electoral Commission announced the election results, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo invited everyone to the transition meeting. The formal handover of power to the incoming administration officially begins with this meeting. President Akufo-Addo greeted Mr. Mahama and his vice president-elect, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and congratulated them on their win.
Congratulations, Mr. President. He told Mr. Mahama, "It was a hard-fought battle." "Congratulations, historic lady," he continued, turning to face Prof. Opoku-Agyemang. Congratulations," acknowledging her historic accomplishment as the first female vice president-elect of Ghana. Mr. Mahama has announced a ten-member transition committee to help with the handover process in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845). To guarantee a seamless and effective transition of duties, the team will collaborate closely with the departing administration.
January 7, 2025 is the date of President-elect Mahama's swearing-in ceremony. According to the Electoral Commission, he received 56.55% of the total legitimate votes, making his election victory resounding.
