Elsie Avemegah, the mother of dancehall artist Shatta Wale, was accused of neglecting her daughter, according to reports that appeared in July 2024. The scenario apparently drew considerable criticism for more than ten years. Shatta Wale, who is well-known for his famous song "Ayoo," responded by defending himself in interviews and listing the different ways he has helped his mother. These included helping her out in different ways including purchasing four cars for her. Despite his justifications, detractors continued to doubt his dedication to his mother's well-being. Sammy Flex, Shatta Wale's manager, publicly asserted in September 2024 that the rapper had bought a three-bedroom home for his mother, reigniting the controversy.
Now, Elsie Avemegah has stepped forward to correct the record and refute rumors that her son purchased a home for her. She emphasized in a social media clip that the property in question, which is in the Accra suburb of Abokobi, was rented for two years rather than bought.
Elsie sternly warned Sammy Flex, speaking directly to him. "Sammy Flex! I'm phoning to let you know that I'm just heading to Atiave and will deal with you if you don't stop this bullshit. You believe me to be among those worthless elderly ladies. She responded, "You will regret getting involved in this matter if you don't stop spreading false rumors about me that you and my son bought me a house while you only rented the building for me for two years." Additionally, Elsie threatened to take action if Sammy Flex did not comply with her three-day ultimatum to publicly apologize and clarify the situation.
A harsh video directed at the rapper and his management was published by Shatta Wale's uncle, who says he helped Elsie move into the rented home, further escalating the dispute. "I'm making this video to caution Shatta Wale and Sammy Flex, his management. Don't use your mother to gain influence if you're broke. as I am familiar with the entire story. Allow your mother to be cared for by others if you are aware that you are unable to do so. You purchased the house for her at what time? You couldn't even pay for the building in full. You're here, trying to gain influence with it, and you only paid for three months," the uncle said.
In his final warning, he threatened to call Sammy Flex to court and foretold deadly repercussions if the accusations were not withdrawn. Particularly in the Ghanaian entertainment sector, the drama that is developing has rekindled discussions about the obligations of celebrities and family relationships. Shatta Wale's contributions to his mother are defended by some supporters, while others condemn the public disclosure of personal issues and advise both sides to find a solution outside of social media. Fans continue to react to the news in a variety of ways as they wait for more information from the parties.
