The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi, has reportedly made strong statements against certain media figures in Ghana, according to adomonline.
He advised them to discuss political matters with common sense. Wontumi clarified that a person's employment in the media does not imply that they are infallible or possess the solutions to every issue. "Being a media personality does not make you a magician," he stated. By saying this, he was drawing attention to the fact that some public personalities pretend to be authorities on subjects they don't completely comprehend. Wontumi contends that the media shouldn't only make statements to garner attention or create headlines. He thinks that some media outlets and journalists disseminate material that is either poorly researched or even deceptive.
Wontumi suggested, "Learn to use common sense and think before you speak." He stressed that it is the duty of media figures to accurately inform the people, not to mislead or confuse them. He advised them, particularly on significant issues like politics, the economics, and governmental policy, to conduct in-depth research on subjects before engaging in discussion. The remarks made by Wontumi follow what he perceives to be the dissemination of false information in the media. He has observed that several media professionals appear to embellish or fabricate facts in order to add interest to their reports. According to him, this is risky since it may influence how the general public perceives significant political developments and governmental acts.

Even if some may not agree with Wontumi's remarks, his message has sparked a discussion on the proper conduct of Ghana's media. His criticism of the media draws attention to a larger issue facing the nation: the necessity for reporters to report the facts without embellishing them, particularly in light of the upcoming elections. Wontumi, who is renowned for his straightforward and honest communication approach, also urged the media to concentrate on giving the public the facts rather than exaggerated tales. In order to prevent the dissemination of misleading information, he wants the media to exercise greater caution while covering delicate political topics.
