Renowned Ghanaian dancehall and reggae performer Stonebwoy has confirmed his status as a pioneer in the country's music scene once more. In an interview with 3Music TV, he reflected on his historic accomplishment of packing the Accra Sports Stadium to capacity, revealing that more than 55,000 people attended his self-funded BHIM Festival in 2023.
Stonebwoy claims that the historic performance, which had a roster of excellent performers from Ghana and the Caribbean, was completely self-produced and unsponsored. He proudly remarked, "No artist in my class has ever packed the Accra Sports Stadium like I did," characterizing the occasion as evidence of his impact and commitment to the art form.
The "Jejereje" hitmaker took the opportunity to address what he sees as a lack of acknowledgment for his innovative contributions to the field. Even if some of us dislike talking, it's crucial to correct the record. "The facts speak for themselves, but we've left the stage for others to act like they are leading the industry," he said, fervently discussing his accomplishments and sacrifices. Stonebwoy also emphasized the effort and dedication that went into making the BHIM Festival a success, highlighting the self-funded production.
