Aduonum, who just finished her second attempt at setting the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon, disclosed a troubling conspiracy against her during her first try in Accra. Speaking openly about the event, Afua described how she uncovered a nefarious scheme by some people who wanted to hurt her. She described how some people reportedly attempted to drug her in an attempt to thwart her attempt in a widely shared video. "I'll tell you everything," she said, highlighting the seriousness of the situation, "when they planned to give me a drug so I would collapse and they could put me in an ambulance."
Public outrage and condemnation had dogged Afua's initial attempt, with many accusing her of avarice and casting doubt on her intentions. She was able to overcome these obstacles, but not before she felt the impact of the critical remarks. "For a recognition that doesn’t have money, for a recognition that I’ve been tagged greedy and insulted, why would you even want to destroy me over it?" "What?" she asked.
