Hon. Lawyer Samuel Atta-Kyea, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency, has warned Ghanaians against "gambling with the future" by considering H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in the 2024 elections, describing Mahama as a “recycled leader.” Atta-Kyea emphasized the importance of economic expertise in leadership, endorsing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the right candidate to drive Ghana forward.
At a rally held in Akyem Osiem, Eastern Region, in honor of Second Lady H.E. Samira Bawumia, Atta-Kyea highlighted Bawumia’s economic credentials, labeling him as the “Moses” who could lead Ghana through economic challenges. He stated, “Ghana’s problem is economic, and we need a leader with a deep understanding of economics. Dr. Bawumia’s expertise makes him the clear choice, unlike Mahama, who often relies on second-hand information.”
Atta-Kyea dismissed Mahama’s recent comments on the Free SHS policy, in which Mahama claimed he would "review it better" than the NPP. The MP critiqued this stance as insincere, suggesting Mahama lacks the innovative approach necessary for such a critical policy. He added, "It’s like asking a Tico mechanic to handle a Mercedes Benz—you need the right expertise."
The Abuakwa South MP encouraged attendees to vote for the first position on the ballot, represented by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Nana Kwame Addo Ampaw Frempong (Chief Buffalo), the parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa North. He underscored the NPP’s track record under President Nana Akufo-Addo and urged continuity for further progress.
The rally attracted prominent figures, including Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong (Eastern Regional Minister), Mr. Jeff Konadu Addo (Eastern Regional NPP Chairman), Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum (MP for Fanteakwa South), Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo (MP for Abuakwa North), Nana Kwame Addo Ampaw Frempong (parliamentary candidate), Dr. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga (Municipal Chief Executive), Zongo chiefs, Islamic clergy, NPP executives, party supporters, and media representatives.
The event reinforced the NPP’s commitment to Ghana’s progress and the importance of strong economic leadership as Ghana heads into the 2024 general elections.
