Nana Kwame Addo Ampaw Frempong, popularly known as Chief Buffalo and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Abuakwa North, has called on Ghanaians, especially NPP supporters, to avoid complacency as the 2024 elections approach. Reflecting on the party’s loss in 2008, he reminded supporters of the unexpected defeat to the NDC due to overconfidence following H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor’s tenure, which he said set back Ghana’s progress until Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took office in 2017.

Speaking at a rally in Akyem Osiem on November 1, 2024, to welcome Second Lady H.E. Samira Bawumia, Nana Kwame urged Ghanaians to fully support Dr. Bawumia as presidential candidate and himself as parliamentary candidate. “We must not take anything for granted. New voters may not remember the hardship of the NDC years—ask the elderly to remind you,” he cautioned, highlighting the NPP’s impact on Ghana’s development.

Nana Kwame emphasized that infrastructure, particularly road networks, has greatly improved under the Akufo-Addo administration, citing the District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) and the ongoing Kyekewere road construction in Osiem. He praised Dr. Bawumia’s efforts to empower Zongo youth, noting a foreign scholarship program, with beneficiaries even from local communities like Akyem Bosodumase.

He urged chiefs and community elders to rally behind Dr. Bawumia’s vision, emphasizing the pride that a Muslim candidate from their own community could bring to inspire the next generation of Muslim youth. He also warned the youth against electoral violence, advising them to steer clear of instigators from opposition parties and instead focus on peaceful participation.

Concluding, he thanked H.E. Samira Bawumia for her presence, which he described as a “blessing,” and asked voters to choose him and Dr. Bawumia for continued socio-economic progress.

The rally was attended by notable leaders including Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong (Eastern Regional Minister), Mr. Jeff Konadu Addo (Eastern Regional NPP Chairman), Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum (MP for Fanteakwa South), Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo (MP for Abuakwa North), Dr. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga (Municipal Chief Executive), as well as Zongo chiefs, Islamic clergy, NPP executives, and media representatives.
