Honorable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, popularly known as Hajia Kande, Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North Constituency and former Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), has expressed her confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's vision for advancing education in Ghana if he is elected as the next president. Speaking at a public event in the Eastern Region, Hon. Twum-Ampofo highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to building on the educational policies initiated by the Nana Akufo-Addo administration, which have already brought significant benefits to Ghanaians.

She emphasized that, while the Free SHS policy is widely recognized, the current administration has also introduced Free TVET, ensuring free tuition for students across technical institutions. This initiative, she explained, is crucial in equipping the youth with employable skills relevant to the demands of the fourth industrial revolution. “Through free TVET, our youth gain technical skills, preparing them for a competitive workforce and giving them tools for self-reliance,” she remarked.



Hon. Twum-Ampofo noted that under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, these educational policies would be further strengthened. She announced that the government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has secured funding aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the Ghana Skills Development Fund. This fund provides free access to skills training that will help SMEs sustain and grow their businesses. She urged community leaders to encourage the youth to take full advantage of these resources.

The MP made these statements at the outdooring ceremony of Nana Brempomaa Amoafoa II, the newly installed Queen Mother of Akyem Ati in the Adonteng Division of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area. During the ceremony at the Akyem Ati Presbyterian School park, Hon. Twum-Ampofo praised the new queen mother as a visionary leader with a deep commitment to community development. She recalled their successful collaboration when Nana Brempomaa served as the Eastern Regional GES Director, describing her as a unifier and an asset to the region. “Nana Brempomaa is a knowledgeable, development-oriented team player who I am confident will bring positive change to the community,” she added.

Furthermore, Hon. Twum-Ampofo reassured the Akyem Ati community of ongoing support for healthcare improvements. She announced plans to equip the newly acquired CHPS facility with advanced medical equipment before December 2024, enhancing local healthcare access and addressing critical health needs.

Her remarks resonated with the attendees, as she urged all residents and opinion leaders to rally behind Dr. Bawumia and Nana Brempomaa Amoafoa II to realize a shared vision for a prosperous future in both education and community development.
