Former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its frequent blame game and lack of accountability. Speaking during a campaign tour in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency in the Eastern Region on Monday, November 18, 2024, Mahama accused the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia administration of failing to take responsibility for their actions since coming to power in 2016.

"The current government always shifts blame instead of solving problems. When I was in power, I took responsibility for the challenges and worked to resolve them for the betterment of the country. But today, this government blames me, or they say it is because of COVID-19 or the Russia-Ukraine war whenever Ghanaians express their concerns," Mahama stated.

During his address, the former president highlighted the NDC’s plans to create jobs for the youth and revamp the economy when elected in the December 2024 elections. He urged the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri to vote massively for the NDC parliamentary candidate, Mr. Selorm, as well as for him as the NDC presidential candidate, to bring about positive change in the country.

Mahama reiterated the NDC’s track record in creating jobs and driving development, expressing confidence in the party’s ability to deliver meaningful progress if given another opportunity to govern. "The NDC has always worked to improve the lives of Ghanaians, and we are ready to continue that legacy," he emphasized.

He also called on voters to remain vigilant on election day to protect their votes and ensure that their voices are heard. "We must safeguard our votes to bring about the change Ghana needs," he urged.

The campaign stop in Nsawam is part of Mahama’s broader efforts to engage directly with Ghanaians and outline the NDC’s vision for the future ahead of the December elections.
