The neglect of citizens' livelihoods in pursuit of fanciful projects is a major cause of the unpopularity of potentially competent governments, often culminating in electoral humiliation.
An uninformed government egotistically prioritizes grandiose projects and policies at the expense of citizens' basic necessities. This is why Ghanaian electorates characteristically vote out incumbent parties during elections, perceiving incumbency as the mother of kleptocracy (rule by thieves), which leads to plutocracy (rule by money), and thrives on mendacity.
Presidents often become commissioners of ambitious projects during election years, imposing their definition of national priorities on ordinary citizens. Incumbent governments overlook the fact that a significant percentage of their population lives in poverty, making them less concerned about infrastructural or technological developments and flashy election campaigns.
If God were the president of any nation, His priorities would be evident to all, as the Holy Scriptures consistently highlight prophets' objections to leadership negligence.
According to the Bible, God’s governance would prioritize the following: the destitute, women, children, widows, the aged, the physically challenged, the youth, law-abiding foreigners, shortchanged workers, loyalists, meritorious appointments (based on expertise and competence), and justice (rewarding good and punishing evil). Such a governance model must not be dismissed as demagoguery!
No government would be unpopular if it genuinely pursued the provision of citizens' basic necessities, such as accessible, quality, and affordable food, healthcare, housing, education, security, and decent jobs. This is why God is called Jehovah Jireh (God will provide). I am advocating for isocracy—a governance system where the people's welfare is paramount.
As Jesus and Paul affirmed, "God is faithful to provide all these necessities of life." A person who is well-fed, healthy, sheltered, and educated is more likely to remain optimistic about the future.
Governments that disregard spirituality and natural laws will face rejection by both God and the people. Humanity is inherently aware of the existence of a higher power and appreciates natural order. Hence, administrations that promote unnatural practices, such as LGBTQ advocacy or questionable scientific programs, will inevitably face divine disapproval and electoral defeat.
Positive cultural values such as morality, diligence, integrity, family life, religion, and excellence deeply resonate with the electorate.
Recent global paradigm shifts in agenda-setting have altered voter behavior. The average voter has become desensitized to fake news, contributing to the electoral struggles of progressives and leftists worldwide. Conservative leaders are gaining ground globally—in the UK, Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, USA, Argentina, and Brazil. Germany appears to be following suit, as voters increasingly appreciate natural order and spirituality.
It is ironic that politicians often seek divine blessings for electoral victories yet disregard divinely proven principles for governance once in power.
The Bible reminds us in Daniel 4:17:
"The Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world. He gives them to anyone He chooses—even to the lowliest of people.”
And in 1 Samuel 2:8-10:
"He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and He has set the world in order."
The message to the president-elect is clear: governance rooted in justice, compassion, and service to humanity aligns with divine principles and secures the trust of the people.
