Koforidua, March 14, 2025 – OTADO Investment Limited, a real estate development and social services company, has reaffirmed its lawful acquisition of land in the Abuakwa North Municipality, addressing concerns raised by some local farmers.

Speaking at a press conference at the company’s headquarters in Koforidua, OTADO’s Managing Director, Mr. Nathan Oti Anim, clarified the acquisition process, emphasizing that all necessary legal procedures were followed.

According to Mr. Anim, OTADO engaged traditional authorities in the area, including Daasebre Boamah Darko, Chief of Kukurantumi and Adontenhene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, to secure the 500-acre land. After consultations with his overlord, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Chief approved the transaction, ensuring OTADO had the required traditional and legal backing. However, the cost of the land was not disclosed to the press during the conference.

Despite this, some local farmers occupying portions of the land refused to engage in discussions regarding compensation. “Despite several attempts to negotiate compensation for those affected, they declined our invitations and instead resorted to resistance,” Mr. Anim stated.

He further stressed that before the acquisition, OTADO conducted thorough checks and found the land free of litigation. Additionally, the company notified relevant authorities, including the Eastern Regional Police Command, about its activities in the area.

“As a law-abiding company, we seek peaceful coexistence with the local community. However, certain individuals have chosen to turn against OTADO through acts of hooliganism,” Mr. Anim added, calling for calm and cooperation from all stakeholders.

The company assured the public that it remains committed to fostering development in the region and will continue its real estate projects in accordance with the law. OTADO also urged the media to help provide clarity on the matter and support efforts to maintain peace.
