In a move to empower the youth of her constituency, the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central in the Western Region, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has promised to acquire licenses for Okada riders at no cost.

This support forms part of her ongoing efforts to uplift the livelihoods of her constituents, especially those engaged in the Okada business, which has become a significant means of transportation and income generation due to the poor road conditions in the area.

Although Ghana’s laws still prohibit the use of motorbikes for commercial activities, the practice has become common across the country due to several factors, such as poor road infrastructure and traffic congestion in urban areas.

Joana Gyan Cudjoe stated that the licenses would be provided to help riders avoid police harassment.

Addressing supporters after a massive unity walk at Kwakuboah, a farming community in the constituency, Joana Gyan Cudjoe advised supporters on the importance of voting for the NDC in the 2024 elections.

She emphasized that events like the unity walk are crucial not only for promoting physical fitness but also for providing an opportunity to engage with the electorate and reorient their focus towards the party’s vision.

Highlighting the NDC’s manifesto, she assured constituents that it holds the promise of meaningful development for the constituency, pointing to various projects she has already initiated as evidence of her dedication to improving the lives of her people.

She also urged constituents to ignore the opposition’s propaganda and stay focused on the NDC’s agenda.

Discussing the Okada initiative, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe expressed her belief that by facilitating the acquisition of licenses, the Okada business—which many young people rely on due to the area’s poor road network—would become safer and more profitable.

Several Okada riders expressed their joy and gratitude for the promise, noting that obtaining a license has been a challenge for many due to the associated costs. One rider mentioned, "The license will give us peace of mind and allow us to ride without fear of being arrested."

Joana Gyan Cudjoe reassured the gathering that she would be an active and vocal representative if elected, and she emphasized her commitment to working closely with her constituents to achieve their shared vision for development.

She declared that the health walk sent a clear message to the opposition NPP that the NDC is determined to win the seat, with her as the next Member of Parliament.

She vowed that not a single vote would go to the opposition in the upcoming elections and that the interests of the people would be zealously protected.

The NDC in Amenfi Central is mobilizing to maintain its stronghold in the constituency, with Joana Gyan Cudjoe leading the charge.

During the event, she also distributed NDC-branded T-shirts and sanitary pads to attendees.

Additionally, her foundation, the Joana Gyan Foundation, provided free health screenings for about 600 residents and distributed medication at no cost.
