An official decision to caucus with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 9th Parliament has been made by Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, the MP for Gomoa Central. This decision is being hailed as a game-changer. The NDC now has a vital two-thirds majority, enabling them to spearhead important policy and legislative reforms, thanks to this landmark decision.
A-Plus's decision is especially significant because he previously disclosed that he had received attractive offers from both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), with the latter, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, even suggesting that he would not run for the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections. Citing his wish to back the party that best represents his constituents and himself, A-Plus has finally decided to support the NDC.
This development is expected to have far-reaching implications for Ghana's political landscape. With the NDC now holding a two-thirds majority, they'll be well-positioned to push through their legislative agenda, potentially leading to significant policy changes. As the 9th Parliament gets underway, all eyes will be on A-Plus and the NDC as they work to deliver on their campaign promises.
