A large business selling electrical equipment in Zogbeli, Tamale, was destroyed by a fierce fire that broke out Tuesday morning.

However, the Ghana National Fire Service's (GNFS) prompt action stopped the fire from advancing to a nearby multi-story building that housed multiple stalls.

When the fire broke out at 10:30 a.m., bystanders called the fire department right away, and they arrived soon after.

The fire was finally contained at approximately 1:04 p.m. after three hours of firefighting, and it was totally extinguished by 3:11 p.m.

Two more fire tenders and a water truck were among the reinforcements sent in to make sure the fire didn't spread.

No casualties were reported.

ACFO II Masiku, the Northern Regional Fire Commander, and other top fire officers oversaw the operation.

While praising the staff and expressing relief at the prompt intervention, witnesses pointed out that the fire might have caused more damage had it spread to the nearby building.

To find out what caused the fire, which has caused the shop owner to suffer large damages, investigations are being conducted.
