After getting threatening threats to reveal her private film, a young businesswoman in Accra has resorted to a local radio station for support.

In an interview, the social media-savvy woman described her terrifying experience of falling for a scam. She claimed she was contacted online by someone who offered to provide financial support for her company.

"I'm a businesswoman who spends a lot of time on social media," she claimed. One of the people I was conversing with on TikTok volunteered to assist me with my business. They assured me that they will send someone to speak with me face-to-face about the specifics.

To seal the deal, the woman consented to meet the individual. When she met the person at a hotel, though, things changed.

"It turned out that the 'business deal' involved me sending a private video in exchange for 2,000 Ghanaian cedis," she told reporters. "Believing I would get the money, I consented. However, the person urged me to leave after the video was filmed, claiming that network problems would cause them to pay the money later.

The woman didn't get the money for days. The person threatened to reveal her private footage when she confronted them. She chose to notify the authorities of the occurrence out of fear for her safety.
