Parliamentary Representative for Kawempe North, Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, has died.

He was declared brain dead and suffering multiple organ failure while in intensive care, and Lubaga Hospital reported his death at 12:10 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025.



Dr. Grace Nanyondo, the hospital's interim executive director, told reporters earlier Thursday morning that Hon. Ssegirinya was still alive but in a severe condition.

Although he is still alive, his situation is critical, and he needs our prayers and love. "We need to offer him prayers because he still has a pulse, so medically, he cannot be declared dead," she said.


The hospital, however, recently disclosed in a statement that Hon. Ssegirinya had been receiving treatment there but had passed away in spite of all attempts to preserve his life.

The Ugandan Parliament, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, members of Parliament, the residents of Kawempe North, and his family and loved ones were all sent condolences by the hospital administration.
