For the purpose of investigating its defeat in the general elections of 2024, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has established an 11-member.

The group is charged with examining the reasons for the party's loss and suggesting ways to improve its chances going forward, according to Citi Newsroom. It is chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye.

NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua stated that the committee has been assigned a three-month mandate to examine internal party elections, assess campaign tactics, and pinpoint the main issues that led to the defeat.

The party's National Council will be provided with the findings for review and possible action.

The 2024 elections brought about a dramatic change in politics as former President John Dramani Mahama won a landslide victory over Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's nominee.

According to the Electoral Commission (EC), Mahama received 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of all legitimate ballots cast, on December 9. In comparison, 41.61% of the votes, or 4,657,304, went to Bawumia.

Significant gains for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which obtained a majority in Parliament, coincided with Mahama's triumph.

More than 180 seats in parliament have been confirmed for the NDC, including areas that were once NPP strongholds. This result strengthens Mahama's mandate and gives the NDC substantial legislative authority as he gets ready to take office.

The defeat has sparked questions about the NPP's internal dynamics and campaign strategy. The party's dedication to reflection and reconstruction is demonstrated by the committee's formation.

In order to reclaim political power and allay voter fears before upcoming elections, the NPP seeks to identify areas that require change.

The committee's chairman, Prof. Oquaye, offers a wealth of political knowledge and perspective to the work.

His work will be essential to guaranteeing a comprehensive analysis of the problems that influenced the party's performance in the elections of 2024.

The committee's efforts are anticipated to lay the groundwork for the NPP to implement strategic changes as it attempts to bounce back from this major electoral defeat. The investigation's conclusions and suggestions will probably influence how the party intends to reconnect with voters and regain political traction.
