An unexpected political turn occurred this year during the annual graduation ceremony of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

The graduation class was shown joyfully singing the well-known National Democratic Congress (NDC) catchphrase, "3y3 Zu," while wearing their graduation gowns in a social media video that went viral.

Although the chant's motivation is unknown, the video has generated a lot of discussion on social media and depicts Ghanaians' joy and excitement about the new NDC government and president-elect, John Drama Mahama.

Additionally, it discusses how eager Ghanaians were for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win.

After the general elections on December 7, 2024, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced that John Dramani Mahama, the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had won.

His primary rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 41.61% of the votes, while he received 56.55% of the legitimate ballots, or 6,328,397 votes.

Following his swearing-in ceremony, Mahama is scheduled to formally take office on January 7, 2025.
