The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) representative in Adansi Asokwa, Hon. KT Hammond, offered his parting remarks as he got ready to leave his position as a member of parliament. After the 8th Parliament's final State of the Nation Address by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, reporters rushed to record KT Hammond's final remarks.

Well-known for his wit and good humor, KT Hammond did not let anyone down. "I feel sad for Ghanaians that I will not be part of the 9th Parliament, but I'm leaving," the seasoned MP said when asked what he thought as he left the parliamentary chamber. With a blend of comedy and earnestness, he spoke, and the assembled reporters grinned.

Another reporter, keen to learn more, inquired as to who would succeed him as his constituency's representative and whether the next Member of Parliament might duplicate his ability to defuse heated parliamentary situations. KT Hammond said, "Well, let me see whether I can make arrangements for you," in keeping with his usual method.

This conversation rapidly went viral on social media, with many Ghanaians recalling KT Hammond's unique position as the 8th Parliament's unofficial "Entertainment Prefect." Colleagues and onlookers alike admired him for his ability to defuse tense situations with well-timed jokes during his tenure in office.

For many, KT Hammond’s exit signifies the end of an era. “He always brought laughter to serious situations. Parliament will not be the same without him,” one Ghanaian remarked on Facebook. Another added, “We need more leaders like KT Hammond, who recognize the importance of humor in leadership.”

As the 8th Parliament comes to a close and the 9th Parliament prepares to take the reins, Ghanaians are left to reflect on the legacy of leaders like KT Hammond, who skillfully balanced the gravity of governance with a touch of levity. While his absence will surely be felt, his contributions will be remembered fondly.
