Asantehene: I would prefer that all of my Kumasi initiatives be overseen in Kumasi rather than Accra.

The Ashanti Region's growth and the role of politicians have been the subject of a harsh statement from the Asantehene.
In a January 10, 2025, courtesy call by the World Bank Vice President for Western and Central Africa to the Manhyia Palace, the Asantehene drew attention to the ongoing delays in projects intended for Kumasi and blamed them on Accra's bureaucratic roadblocks.
stressed that rather than being run from Accra, the project office should be situated in Kumasi. "I'm not sure why, but the project office ought to be here by now.
Given that we have an office in Accra, we shouldn't be managing projects here.
