Attorney General Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has made the decision not to appeal the Court of Appeal's acquittal of Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson to the Supreme Court.

Dr. Forson was previously on trial at the Accra High Court on charges of causing €2 million in financial loss in an ambulance purchase deal. However, on July 30, 2024, the Court of Appeal acquitted him and released him after the country's second-highest court upheld his submission that there was no case.

According to the Attorney-General's notice of abandonment of appeal, which was sent to the Supreme Court on January 24, 2025, his organization had no plans to pursue the case.

The A-G said, "Please take note that the Republic has once again served notice of appeal to appeal to the Court against the judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on the 30th day of July 2024, and hereby gives you notice that the Republic does not intend to prosecute the appeal further, but that the Republic abandons all further proceedings with respect to this matter as from the date of this notice."
