In the Central Region's Effutu Municipality, the departing Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has advised the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to forego the nomination of a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

In that municipality, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not permit the election of an MCE, according to the politician, who is also the Member of Parliament for Effutu.

During a function, the newly appointed Minority Leader told party members that the NPP will continue to run business in Effutu even after the government changed after they suffered a crushing defeat in the general elections on December 7. Listen, we [NPP] are in power in the Effutu constituency.

Because the NPP holds all of the Assembly seats, the NPP is in power in Effutu.
