The recently elected Gomoa Central MP, A Plus, has directly accused President Nana Akufo-Addo of being responsible for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's anticipated loss in the 2024 elections. A Plus claims that Akufo-Addo's administration's policies and actions have caused a great deal of voter resentment, which has dealt the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a serious blow. He maintained that the main reason why people voted against Bawumia was their resentment of Akufo-Addo, claiming that each vote represented a rejection of the President's leadership.

The NPP's decline in support was attributed by A Plus to a number of unpopular measures, such as the contentious E-levy and high taxes. Ghanaians, especially the young, have suffered long-term consequences as a result of these policies, he claimed. He denounced the pension haircut policy, which he claimed caused retirees great financial suffering, and the E-levy, which taxed people's meager wages, including money from gambling. A Plus explained how many retirees rely on their assets to cover their medical expenses in retirement, only to experience delays in getting their money, which makes their situation even worse.

Additionally, he demanded serious reforms within the NPP, arguing that the party could not bounce back unless Akufo-Addo was expelled. He said that he feels the NPP is at this crisis stage because the President has been suppressing party members with his overpowering power. A Plus also expressed shock that the NPP would run on the Free SHS platform again, given the turmoil it caused during the 2020 election. Calls for the NPP to reflect and change in order to regain the public's trust and turn its political fortunes around are reflected in his remarks.
