The present configuration of the Black Stars' technical team, led by Otto Addo, has drawn criticism from former Hearts of Oak forward Charles Taylor.

Taylor questioned the credentials of several support staff members in an interview, pointing specifically at former defender John Paintsil, who he believes has the expertise needed for his position.

Taylor recommended that in order to improve the team's performance, Otto Addo think about reorganizing the technical staff and hiring more seasoned coaches.

Do you have coaching skills if you choose John Paintsil as your assistant? Paintsil acknowledged that he hadn't reached that stage yet, yet he was assigned the part. The existing team won't help him succeed, so I want to know if Otto Addo or the GFA chooses the backstage crew," Taylor told Angel TV.

Taylor also took issue with the team's selection, claiming that the present technical staff lineup is not up to par enough to make progress.

"The members of the technical team have no right to be present. As I mentioned before, Addo's behavior even demonstrates that he cannot get Ghana into the 2025 AFCON. Why can't a group comprising Sudan, Angola, and Niger qualify when you have so many excellent players? He went on to say.

Following reports that Otto Addo had similar concerns in a meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council on Wednesday, November 27, Taylor made these remarks.

A major factor in the Black Stars' inability to earn a spot in the 2025 AFCON, according to Addo, was the inexperience of his staff.

Before deciding Addo's future as head coach, the GFA said they will confer with other stakeholders, including political figures, however the meeting ended without a conclusion.
