John Abdulai Jinapor, a member of parliament representing Yapei-Kusawgu, has been appointed as the energy minister-designate.

The John Mahama administration named its first group of ministers today, January 9.

John Mahama Felix Kwakye Ofosu's special aide signed a presidential statement describing Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor as having a great deal of practical experience and expertise.

Honorable John Abdulai Jinapor contributes a wealth of practical knowledge and expertise to the energy portfolio, according to the Presidency message. With his broad background, especially in energy economics and finance, he is anticipated to contribute the much-needed energy sector transformation dynamism and skills.

“Hon. Jinapor holds a Master of Arts Degree (MA) in Economic Policy Management, an MBA in Marketing and a Master of Science (MSc) in Development Finance from the University of Ghana. He also holds a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Energy Economics from GIMPA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London”, it added.

The President submitted the ministerial nominations to the Speaker of Parliament in accordance with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

Meanwhile, the John Mahama government has set up a 12-member committee to avert the looming power crisis in the country.

The committee is expected to develop a road map to address both financial and technical issues.

Member of Parliament John Jinapor is Chairman of the Committee set up by the government and now the energy minister designate.
