Former Chief Executive Officer of National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah has expressed reluctance to take on roles involving the allocation of opportunities in the future. Reflecting on the challenges he faced during his tenure, he revealed that such positions often come with unrealistic expectations and constant scrutiny, making them less appealing for future consideration.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Ofosu Nkansah explained the complexities of managing limited opportunities in the face of high demand and diverse expectations from everyone. "My previous role will probably be the last I will accept to serve in a position which involves giving opportunities to people" he said, hinting on his hesitation to take on such role again.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah shared the kind of messages he receives daily from party footsoldiers stating that "those who get will come and ask for more. If you are unable to give them more, you get issues. Those who don't get the opportunity too will come after you because they don't understand why others got and they didn't."
Mr. Ofosu Nkansah highlighted the challenges of working amidst individuals driven by greed and selfishness, emphasising that such dynamics make these roles particularly uncomfortable. "No matter what you give them, they will not appreciate," he remarked.
The former NEIP CEO comments underscore the personal toll associated with roles that involve distribution of resources or opportunities to many. Despite his achievements in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, the experience has seemly left him disinclined to return to similar positions in the future.
