On Friday, three persons lost their lives when a bus carrying them from Takoradi to Accra flipped over at the crossroads near the Aggrey Memorial School in Cape Coast.
A bus carrying roughly 53 people, registered GW 6231-21, flipped on its side, trapping some of the passengers.
Nine people were treated and sent home, while twenty-three more who suffered various injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
The catastrophe occurred at approximately 6:48 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, according to Abdul Wasiu Hudu, Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The majority of the passengers were saved and transported to the University of Cape Coast Hospital and the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for medical treatment, he said, thanks to the combined efforts of GNFS officers, police officers, and ambulance operators.
He claimed that the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital had regrettably confirmed the deaths of three of the passengers.
