The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have jointly notified the public that certain thermal power plants in Tema have had to shut down as a result of the temporary closure of the Tema Regulatory & Metering Station of the West Afica Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo).
In certain regions of the nation, restricted load management is necessary due to the power supply shortage created by the shutdown, according to a joint statement released on Thursday, December 12.
The Lagos Beach Compressor Station received larger-than-expected liquids and debris, causing operational disruptions that required the temporary closing of WAPCo's Tema Regulatory & Metering Station, the agency said in a statement.
According to GRIDCo and ECG, they have high hopes that WAPCo will quickly overcome the obstacle and restart the gas delivery.
After the gas supply is restored, all impacted customers will have power again. The joint statement read, "GRIDCo and ECG would like to express their sincere regret to all impacted customers for the inconvenience."
