The Electoral Commission (EC), which has already received results from 13 regions, has announced that it will announce the presidential election results at precisely 4:30 PM today.
EC Deputy Chairperson Samuel Tettey told the public during a news conference today that the commission was working within the legally mandated deadline to announce the results, as required by C.I 127.
According to Tettey, the procedure is proceeding in accordance with the law, and the EC has 72 hours from the polls' closing to declare the official results.
Increasingly, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other citizens were complaining about the delays in announcing the presidential results, which prompted him to make these comments.
Some have criticized the EC's approach for moving slowly, calling it "feet dragging."
To allay these worries, EC Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa assured the public that the commission was carrying out a rigorous and careful verification procedure.
To safeguard the integrity of the results and reflect the actual will of the people, she underlined, the postponement was necessary.
