GhanaWeb reports that a businessman named Emmanuel Osei passed away while on the phone in Accra, causing a disastrous tragedy.
The regrettable incident, which occurred on a popular street in the Adabraka area on Saturday afternoon, shocked bystanders.
Witnesses reported that Osei, who was in his late 40s, was walking along the street, talking on his cell phone, and looked healthy. His stumble and subsequent fall, however, marked a dramatic change in the course of events.
"He was using his phone while I watched him walk. Suddenly, he gripped his chest and fainted, even though he appeared well," a shopkeeper who saw the incident stated. In an attempt to aid, a second bystander called for assistance, but it was too late.
Friends and colleagues of the deceased described him as a hardworking and kind individual.
Emergency services were contacted immediately, and paramedics arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts to revive him, Osei was pronounced dead on the spot. His lifeless body was later taken to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further examination.
Police officers who arrived at the scene have begun investigations into the incident.
“We are working closely with medical professionals to determine the exact cause of death. At this stage, we suspect it could be a heart attack or another health-related issue,” stated a police spokesperson.
“Emmanuel was always full of life. It’s hard to believe he is gone just like that,” said a close friend who chose to remain anonymous.
Health experts have since issued a warning to the public about the dangers of neglecting their health.
Dr. Kwesi Asare, a local physician, commented, “Stress and underlying health conditions are silent killers. People should ensure they get regular check-ups and manage their workload.”
The sudden death of Emmanuel Osei has left many in mourning and serves as a reminder of the fragility of life.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue and have assured Osei’s family of their full support during this difficult time.
Osei’s family is yet to release an official statement, but sources indicate that funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, the community in Adabraka is still grappling with the shock of losing a man many considered a pillar of their neighborhood.
